A Mother's Journey to Gentle, Eco-Friendly Clothing

In 1998, a dedicated mom in California faced a common dilemma: finding children's clothing free from chemicals and toxic dyes that could irritate her daughters' sensitive skin. The market then offered very few organic baby and kids clothing options, and even fewer that combined health benefits with beautiful designs. From this challenge, the vision for Under the Nile was born.

Armed with a passion for fashion and a deep desire to create beautiful, sustainable, and affordable organic clothes for children everywhere, she traveled to Egypt. This land is renowned for cultivating the world's softest and highest quality cotton.

After seeing the love and adoration for this brand in the US market, we asked ourselves "Why can't the babies here in Egypt and the Middle East access the same high quality, sustainable and beloved baby products that grow in their backyard?" So here we are, bringing Under the Nile to our babies. We hope you love this brand as much as we do.

Partnering with SEKEM: A Shared Vision for Sustainability

In Egypt, she discovered SEKEM – an inspiring community of farmers, artisans, engineers, and visionaries. SEKEM was transforming desert land by cultivating and harvesting organic biodynamic cotton through truly sustainable and ethical practices. Their profound commitment to both people and the environment, alongside their holistic contributions to Egypt's development, deeply resonated with her.

This shared vision forged a perfect partnership. For 25 years, they collaborated to create sustainable, handcrafted products for babies, kids, and homes, all rooted in the purity of organic Egyptian cotton.

As of 2023, the founder has retired to cherish time with her family, entrusting Under the Nile entirely to SEKEM's dedicated care.

Under the Nile Arabia is run by an Egyptian/American couple who wanted to introduce this ethical and sustainable brand to the wider region.
